D&E hoop teams tumble in WVC play

Nick Novak had 19 points and dished out 10 assists to lead Pitt-Johnstown past Davis & Elkins 78-71 Saturday in West Virginia Conference action at the McDonnell Center.

The game was dedicated to assistant coach Roy Simms, who passed away Nov. 17. Simms' family was recognized during the game, while the Elkins High School boys basketball team held an intra-squad scrimmage during halftime. Simms was the former EHS head coach.

Andrew Cressler added 16 points and pulled down six rebounds, while Jordan Miller added 15 p oints for the Mountain Cats (4-2, 2-2 WVIAC).

D'Quan Lynch had 21 points, nine assists and nine rebounds for the Senators, while Shane Brown added 14 points and Devin Miller 11 points.

D&E (0-2, 0-2 will visit Shepherd at 8 p.m. on Saturday for a WVC contest.

Women's game

P-J 73, D&E 72, OT

Nicole Carman had 18 points to lead Pitt-Johnstown past Davis & Elkins 73-72 Saturday in overtime in West Virginia Conference action at the McDonnell Center.

Kaitlynn Fratz followed with 17 points and pulled down six rebounds, while Kayla DeCriscic finished with 13 points for the Lady Mountain Cats (2-3, 0-3 WVIAC). Kelsey Sleighter added 11 points.

Jorden Lykes finished with a game-high 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Lady Senators (1-2, 0-1). Page Turner added 15 points and 10 rebounds, Ashley Bowles 12 points and Alicia Lentz 10 points.

D&E will visit Edinboro at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
