The Heavner Grove CEOS met at Mount Rupert Church Nov 14. Sharon Carr was hostess for the annual Thanksgiving dinner. A delicious meal was enjoyed by 12 members and one guest.
The flag salute was given by all. Devotional leader Hilda Ketterman read James 1 verse 26. A Thanksgiving reading was also presented. Shirley Horner read the minutes and roll call.
Heavner Grove CEOS collected 24 Blankets of Hope. Blankets were donated to Parish House and Victoria Street Rest Home.
Raffle tickets were distributed, with prizes being $100 to Sheetz, $75 to Walmart and $50 to Krogers.
Books read by club members were recorded. Approximately 550 books were read by club members. Sharon Carr donated 400 books to charity.
A stained glass window ornament was entered in the Christmas ornament by Hilda Ketterman. Ornaments will be displayed in First Community Bank window until Dec. 7.
Hats and mittens for Head Start are due Dec. 5. The club donated 20 sets.
Current events were answered 100 percent. Cards were sent to Joyce Booth, Carol Ann Baxa and Helen Lantz.
Elaine Wright taught the November lesson, "A Cranberry Thanksgiving." In show and tell, Joyce Zirkle showed a pink baby quilt, Terry Morison showed a Berry Patchwork quilt and a Christmas apron by Shirley Horner.
The Dec. 12 meeting will be 10 a.m. at Mount Rupert Church. Members are asked to bring a grab bag gift and finger food or dessert.
