West Virginia Wesleyan College is again participating in the West Virginia Neighborhood Investment Program.
The college was awarded $55,700 in West Virginia Tax Credits for its West Virginia Opportunity Scholarship Program, which provides financial assistance to students attending Wesleyan from Barbour, Braxton, Fayette, Gilmer, Greenbrier, Lewis, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Randolph, Tucker, Upshur, and Webster Counties that are at or below 125 percent of the federal poverty level.
"This is a win-win situation for alumni and friends of Wesleyan and for students who attend the college," said Bob Skinner '75, vice president for advancement at the United Methodist-related school. Individuals who make a donation of $500 or more to this program can be entitled to both a federal tax charitable deduction and West Virginia Tax Credits."
Tax credits are awarded at a rate of 50 percent. A $1,000 donation for example will result in tax credits of $500. For more information about the West Virginia Opportunity Scholarship at Wesleyan should contact the College's Advancement Office at 304-473-8600.
