Tucker County, East Hardy earn wins; Lady Bulldogs fall

HAMBLETON - Tyler Snyder finished with a double-double to lead Tucker County past Trinity 85-71 Wednesday in non-conference action.

Snyder racked up 24 points, 13 assists and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Mountain Lions (2-1), who led 51-35 at halftime and 71-54 after three quarters of play.

Ian Nichols finished with 17 points and eight rebounds for Tucker County.

Nathaniel Goldstein and Mikhail Lewis had 14 points each for the Mountain Lions.

Anthony Ghiardi had 20 points, while Cody Triplett added 19 points for the Warriors.

"I?thought we played well in the first half both offensively and defensively," Tucker County coach Tom Gutshall said. "This was a good win for us tonight."

Tucker County entertains East Hardy Friday in a Potomac Valley Conference matchup at 7:30 p.m.

Pendleton County 54

FRANKLIN - Tyler Mongold had a team-high 21 points to lead East Hardy past Pendleton?County 64-54 Wednesday in Potomac Valley Conference action.

Levi Beck followed with 14 points, while Josh Parker added 10 points for the Cougars (1-1), who led 31-27 at halftime and 45-35 after three periods.

Evan Arrington finished with a career high 27 points and dished out five assists for the Wildcats (1-1).

Logan Raines added 13 points and eight rebounds for Pendleton County.

East Hardy visits Tucker County on Friday for a PVC matchup at 7:30 p.m.

Pendleton?County entertains Harman tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Notre Dame 62,

Tygarts Valley 58 OT

MILL?CREEK - Molly Angotti had 28 points to lead Notre Dame past Tygarts Valley 62-58 Wednesday in non-conference action.

Sophie Brunett added 12 points, while Rachel Rogers chipped in with seven points for the Lady Irish (3-1).

Shanda Howell finished with 16 points, while Paige Pritt added 11 points for the Lady Bulldogs (3-2), who led 23-20 at halftime and 35-25 after three quarters of play.

Emily Pingley followed with nine points and nine rebounds, while Erin Murphy chipped in with seven points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs.

"We didn't shoot the ball well tonight," Tygarts Valley coach Mike DiPasquale said. "We missed 12 free throws in the fourth quarter and that's way too many. Until we start making free throws in games we are going to lose many games."

Tygarts Valley hosts Union Friday night at 8 p.m. for a PVC?tilt.

Elkins Splits pair

The Elkins High School wrestling team split a pair of matches Wednesday at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

The Tigers defeated Philip Barbour 42-3.

Anthony Haden (126), Aaron Nelan (132), Alex Taylor (145) and Hunter Shipp (152) all earned pins.

Elkins lost at Morgantown 60-30.

Devon Young (132) and Shane Mallow (195)?all earned pins against Morgantown.

Elkins visits East Fairmont on Dec. 28.
