TENNERTON?- Robert C. Byrd continued its early season defensive presence Thursday night, defeating the home-standing Buckhannon-Upshur Bucs 75-45. The Eagles powered over a depleted B-U squad that is still on the mend.
"We lost our point guard Dalton Crislip in the first minute to an injury, and that took away our primary ball handler. We also do not have Aaron Anderson back 100 percent," Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Eli Gurash said. "We had a lot of sophomores get in a lot of varsity minutes tonight. That is some good experience, but you are going to have some growing pains."
Robert C. Byrd took control early and pushed to a 40-23 lead at the half. The Eagles were led by Iziah Hill's game high 21 points. RCB has held opponents under 50 points in every game as the team improved its overall record to 3-0. The Eagles are only allowing 45.3 points per game.
Buckhannon-Upshur falls to 1-4. They were led by Dalton Westfall with 16 points, and Zane Clevenger with 13.
They return to action Saturday afternoon, facing perennial power Oak Hill in a tough non-conference game.
