TENNERTON - Buckhannon-Upshur materialized a strong second half Friday night, but it was not enough as they fell to Robert C. Byrd 46-28 in high school girls basketball action. It was the second consecutive game that the Eagles held an opponent to under 30 points.
"If we could play an entire game with the intensity that we did in the second half, we will have some success," Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Tristan Gray. "We played well defensively in the first half, but we could not score. If we could have knocked down a few shots early on, we could have kept it closer."
Robert C. Byrd led 20-6 at halftime, and held on to that advantage as the teams played evenly after intermission. Alicia Noble led the Eagle attack with a game high 17 points. Kelsey Hinzman and Megan Wilfong each led B-U with identical lines of eight points and seven rebounds.
B-U falls to 1-6 with the loss, while RCB improves to 3-1. The Lady Bucs return home for a Wednesday night game against Big 10 Conference foe Philip Barbour.
