Elkins girls’ swim team defeats NM, Hampshire

The Elkins High School girls' swim team captured a double-dual meet on Tuesday evening on the campus of Davis & Elkins College.

The Lady Tigers defeated North Marion and Hampshire and were led by Lauren Cain, Delaney Johnson and Samantha Hall who all had two place finishes.

Cain placed first in the the 200-yard IM, 2:44.77 and 100-yard freestyle, 109.36, while Johnson placed first in the 50-yard freestyle, 25.37 and 100-yard breaststroke, 117.08.

Hall placed first in the 100-yard butterfly, 107:53 and 100-yard backstroke, 1:03.22.

Tenny DeMarco also captured one first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:36.77.

Tayler Lee placed first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:59.35.

Elkins captured three first-place finishes in relay events and they were the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The 200-yard medley relay team won with a time of 2:05.45. The team consists of Hall, DeMarco, Johnson and Skout Barger.

The 200-yard freestyle relay won with a time of 151.21. The team consits of Lee, Hall, Barger and Johnson.

The 400-yard freestyle relay won with a time of 4:42.78. The team members include DeMarco, Kaylynee Goins, Cain and Barger.

Elkins boys defeated North Marion, but lost to Hampshire County.

The Tigers were led by Robert Hall who had two first -place finishes and they were in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.53 and 100-yard freestyle 58.39.

Tyler Kenney placed first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:12.21.

Elkins will host Notre Dame and Doddridge County on Jan. 8.
