AIA West Virginia, a chapter of the American Institute of Architects, has announcde the recipients of its annual scholarship program for West Virginia students pursuing a career in architecture.

This year, AIA West Virginia was able to award $20,000 to six students, due in part to a $1,000 grant from the National Component of the American Institute of Architects headquartered in Washington, D.C., and a very generous donation from the Elliot Family Foundation in Charleston. Awards will be sent to the students respective schools in December for 2012 spring semester fees.

Among the 2012 scholarships is a $8,500 scholarship to Abigail Mitchell of Buckhannon, who is enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
