Mr. Richard William Phares, 82, a resident of Baltimore, Md., passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 20, 2012, in Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Unit in Elkins.
He was born March 8, 1930, at Elkins, a son of the late Helen Winifred Wyatt and Marshall Samuel Phares.
He was married to Hilda Mae Thompson Phares, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are one son, Michael Richard Phares and wife, Sandra, of Bowden; a daughter, Vickie Lynn Phares Burge of Elkins; a grandson, Michael Allen Phares and wife, Sara; a granddaughter, Stephanie Nicole Burge; a great-granddaughter, Samantha Michelle Phares; and a great-grandson, Austin Michael Phares of Elkins. Also surviving are one sister, Wanda Phares Basil; a nephew, Gordon Basil and wife, Connie; and a niece, Elaine Griesel and husband, Edward, all of Elkins.
Mr. Phares was employed as a taxi driver in Baltimore, Md., for numerous companies for more than 40 years.
Friends may call from 9:30 until 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Marvin L. Parli officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
