Dennis Lee Johnson, 60, a resident of Philippi, entered into heaven peacefully Dec. 21, 2012, after a brave battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family.
Dennis was born April 5, 1952, at Sewickley, Pa., a son of the late Walter R. "Buck" and Helen (Frill) Johnson.
He leaves behind his best friend and wife, Patricia (Gumbel) Johnson, of Philippi; a daughter, Deanna Fletcher and her husband, Ben, of Philippi; three sons, Christopher M. Johnson and wife, Becky, of Baltimore, Md., "Dennis" Aaron Johnson of Pittsburgh, Pa., and William A. "Billy" Lucas of Rogers, Ohio. He also is survived by brothers, William D. Johnson and wife, Patricia, Walter R. Johnson Jr. and wife, Ruby, of Philippi; and one sister, Barbara Fields and companion, David Anderson, of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James D. Johnson; a niece, Valerie Johnson; and nephew, William D. Johnson Jr.
Dennis was a 1970 graduate of Phillip Barbour High School and attended Alderson-Broaddus College.
He was the owner of Johnson Research Service Inc. and formerly operated The Photo Magician photo restoration in Philippi.
His five grandchildren: Tyler Shomo, Austyn and Landyn Fletcher, Jenna Waugh and Mason Johnson, brought him so much pride and joy and oh so many belly laughs. He loved Star Trek and any and all science fiction. He also loved photography, above all, taking pictures of those grandchildren. Mostly, Dennis loved life, and the company of his family.
His request for cremation will be honored.
A celebration in honor of Dennis' life is being planned for a later date.
