BECKLEY - Brandon Pritt scored 18 points as Tygarts Valley defeated Greenbrier West 47-39 in the Class A championship game of the Big Atlantic Classic on Wednesday night.
The contest, which was scheduled for 9 p.m., didn't begin until 10:30 p.m. because of Montrose Christian's triple-overtime victory against Oak Hill Academy.
Once play began, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-13 lead after one quarter and carried a 27-21 advantage into intermission.
Tygarts Valley outscored the Cavaliers 14-11 in the third.
Brett Griffith added 12 points and Ben Sycafoose 10 for the Bulldogs.
Josh Martin led the Cavaliers with 24 points.
"This is the first time we've been here and it was a great experience for the kids," Tygarts Valley coach Tom Wamsley said. "I think we represented the Potomac Valley Conference, WVHIT and north region very well."
The Bulldogs entered the event unranked but picked up a pair of wins against state-ranked teams during the week. Greenbrier West is No. 10 and Valley Fayette, which lost to the Bulldogs on Monday, is No. 10.
Tygarts Valley will entertain South Harrison in third-round play of the WVHIT on Friday.

FRANKLIN - Petersburg limited cold-shooting Pendleton County to just 10 field goals in claiming a 46-27 win on Wednesday night.
Grant Shanholtz had 13 points and Ryan Colaw 10 for the Vikings, who improved to 6-8.
Evan Arrington had 13 for the Wildcats (5-7).
Pendleton County will host Shenandoah Valley Academy (Va.) at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Petersburg will entertain Moorefield at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
