Virginia Carpenter

Virginia Lee Carpenter, 92, of Buckhannon, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon.

She was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Margaret Hamilton Brooks.

On Aug. 3, 1945, she married John M. Carpenter, who preceded her in death on March 25, 2002.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Hamilton Edgerton Brooks, Robert William Brooks, John Hancock Brooks and Thomas Henry Brooks, Jr.; and one sister, Marguerite Wharton.

She is survived by one son, Jack B. and wife, Donna Blankenship Carpenter, of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Kaylyn Lee Carpenter, of Buckhannon; 15 nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Carpenter was a receptionist for WVWC, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Buckhannon and was past President of the WV State Chapter PEO.
