A Driver Safety Program with AARP, an innovative classroom driver retraining program designed to help older persons improve their skills, is being offered Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to noon at Barbour County Senior Center. Participants must attend both days.
This is an eight-hour course developed by AARP, which covers the effects of aging and medications on driving, basic driving rules, license renewal, local traffic hazards, adverse road conditions, energy saving and accident prevention measures.
People 50 and older are eligible to participate in the program.
There is a fee for the course. If the participant brings his/her AARP membership card to the class they will receive a discount.
Those attending are asked to bring the correct amount of cash or a check made payable for the correct amount on the first day of class.
The class is limited to 20 participants.
