John Henry Shupp Jr., 74, of Thomas, died Feb. 19, 2012, in Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland, Md.
He was born March 25, 1938, at Bayard, a son of the late John Henry Shupp Sr. and Bessie Susan Hartley Shupp.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Linda J. Smith Shupp; one son, John H. (Jodi) Shupp III of Roy, Utah; one daughter, Kelly (Ed) Fulton of Thomas; three brothers, William Shupp of Michigan, Clifford Shupp of Elkins and Jerry Shupp of Benbush; three sisters, Emma Stemple of Leadmine, Sue Young Thomas and Jean Diffenbaugh of Belair, Md.; and four grandchildren, John Brandon Shupp, Kristen Elizabeth Shupp, Alexis Brooke Fulton and Cordell Jordan Fulton; and one great-grandchild, Brinleigh Joyce.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Shupp; and two sisters, Helen English and Betty Absher.
Mr. Shupp was employed as an industrial welder. He was a member of Mountain Top Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and collecting clocks and coins. John was a Presbyterian by faith. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
At the request of the deceased, his remains were cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
