MILL CREEK - Valley Health Care Inc. recently announced the addition of a new provider to its staff, Scott F. Shomo, MS, PA-C, EMSA-PA, ME, physician assistant.
Shomo is originally from Barbour County and a graduate of Philip Barbour High School in 1992. He is the son of Rebecca Shomo Hintz of Elkins and the late Richard Shomo.
He currently resides in Harman.
Shomo is the 1997 graduate of Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi with a bachelor's degree in medicine (physician assistant). He received his Master of Science in advanced physician assistant studies in emergency medicine from the Arizona School of Health Sciences in 2001. Shomo did his post graduate training while working for Emergency Physicians of Tidewater, Virginia Beach, Va., until 2005 when he returned to West Virginia. He was appointed as clinical instructor of emergency medicine for Eastern Virginia Medical School department of Emergency Medicine from 2002 till 2005.
Shomo also has served as a lecturer for the Department of Physician Assistant Studies of Alderson-Broaddus College.
He has worked for Davis Health System in the emergency department and various local clinics.
He also is a paramedic with Randolph County EMS. Shomo serves as one of the medical examiners for Randolph County. He is specializing in family medicine and urgent care.
Valley Health Care Inc is a Federally Qualified Health Center located in Mill Creek and has served Randolph and the surrounding counties since 1991.
Valley Health Care Inc. serves as a primary care facility and also provided walk-in services for minor illnesses and emergencies. An optometric physician, Dr. Adam Casseday, also is on site to provide eye care services. Valley Health Care Inc. is open Mondays through Fridays and offers convenient evening hours on Wednesdays.
