HEDGESVILLE - Elkins saw its season come to an end in a 93-33 setback to Hedgesville Wednesday night in a Class AAA, Region II title game.

The Lady Tigers end the campaign with a 6-17 record.

Carly Elliott was one of four players in double figures for the Lady Eagles (17-8) with 27 points. Kristen Nunn added 20, while Kelsey Shaw and Alexis Taylor hit for 10 each.

Hedgesville took control early, building a 27-12 lead after the first quarter and carrying a 51-19 advantage into intermission.

"We came out and weren't making shots and they were," Elkins coach Nancy Lewis said.

"We wish them well in the state tournament."

The Lady Eagles advance to Charleston for the first time since 2006 and will learn their opponent on Friday when the pairings are announced.

Other teams advancing to the state tournament in Class AAA include Martinsburg, Morgantown, Parkersburg South, Princeton, Logan, Spring Valley and the winner of the Greenbrier East-Capital contest, which was postponed on Tuesday.
