Eight girls set to enter pageant

Eight contestants will be vying to become a princess in the 8- and 9-year-old division Saturday during the West Virginia Strawberry Festival's Junior Royalty pageant.

The pageant will begin at 1 p.m. at Buckhannon-Upshur High School. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children under the age of 12.

Competing in this group are Lilly Jean Heater, Alyssa Trene Carpenter, Kaley Brooke McKisic, Graci Inez Ketterman, Shaylee Beth Hitt, Ryanna Hines, Beth O'Neill and Reagan DaNae Heater.

Reagan DeNae Heater, 9, of Buckhannon, is the daughter of Lori and Scott Heater. She is a fourth-grader at Buckhannon Academy Elementary School, and she enjoys gymnastics and playing on her balance beam at home.

O'Neill, 9, of Buckhannon, is the daughter of Tom and Megan O'Neill. She is a fourth-grader at Buckhannon Academy Elementary School, and she enjoys being in the KC Club, being in the school choir, baton twirling, horses and reading.

Hines, 8, of Buckhannon, is the daughter of Ryan and Christy Hines. She is a third-grader at Buckhannon Elementary School, and she enjoys art, pottery, dancing, her church youth group and playing piano.

Hitt, 9, of Buckhannon, is the daughter of Darlene and William Hitt II. She is a third-grader at Buckhannon Academy, and she enjoys being in the Girl Scouts, reading, swimming, music, art, animals and being in Carey's Crew Kids Club for West Virginia University women's basketball.

Ketterman, 8, of Buckhannon, is the daughter of Jay and Amanda Ketterman. She is a second-grader at Union Elementary School, and she enjoys crafts, baton twirling, Girl Scouts and being in her church's youth group.

McKisic, 9, of Buckhannon, is the daughter of Jerry and Susie McKisic. She is a third-grader at Tennerton Elementary School, and she enjoys cheerleading, gymnastics, ballet and tap and jazz dancing.

Lilly Jean Heater, 8, of Rock Cave, is the daughter of Wes and Nancy Heater. She is second-grader at Rock Cave Elementary School, and she enjoys Girl Scouts, ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop dancing.

Carpenter, 8, of Belington, is the daughter of Samantha Carpenter. She is a third-grader at Belington Elementary School, and she enjoys Girl Scouts, cheerleading and basketball.
