CHARLESTON - Stephanie Betler and
Amber Evans combined for 45 points
as Tucker County advanced to the
semifinals of the Class A state
tournament with a 61-53 win over
Williamstown Wednesday night at
the Charleston Civic Center.
The Lady Mountain Lions (20-5)
will face No. 1 and four-time
state champion Huntington St.
Joseph at 1 p.m. Friday with the
winner advancing to the title
game.
Betler finished with 24 points,
while Evans added 21 for Tucker
County, which had to hold off a
late run by the Lady
Yellowjackets, who trimmed a 36-19
halftime deficit to two points in
the final quarter. Stephanie
Ambrose added 13 rebounds for the
winners.
Williamstown, which was led by
Kenzie Smith with 19 points and
Brooke Cieslewski with 16, ends
the season 14-10.
