Carl Denver Lantz, 89, of Clarksville, Tenn., died Friday, March 8, 2013, in Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, Tenn.
He was born Aug. 4, 1923, at Buckhannon, a son of the late Samuel and Virgie Manley Lantz.
On May 13, 1943, he married Imogene Reid, who preceded him in death Dec. 15, 1997.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Arthur Lantz; and one sister, Thelma Chase.
He is survived by two daughters, Paulette Sue Stone, and husband, Lindon, of Buckhannon, and Starlene Howes and husband, Wayne, of Clarksville, Tenn.; three sons, Danny W. Lantz and wife, Nancy, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Clyde D. Lantz and wife, Sharon, and Leonard K. Lantz and wife, Rose, all of Buckhannon; and seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lantz served in the US Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart with two oak leaf clusters. He retired from Bethlehem Steel.
Friends will be received Friday, March 15, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Buckhannon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion, Disabled American Veterans Chapters 5 and 36 will conduct military honors at the graveside.
