A 31-year-old Elkins man pleaded guilty to domestic battery in Randolph County Magistrate Court Tuesday.
Jeramiah White was arrested and charged with domestic battery, third offense, a felony, on, March 3 after he allegedly tried to choke a family member's girlfriend. The incident reportedly occurred at a residence on the Country Club Road.
In Magistrate Court Tuesday, White entered into a plea agreement with the state, represented by Assistant Randolph County Prosecuting Lori Gray, in which he pleaded guilty to one count of second-offense domestic battery, a misdemeanor, in exchange for the state dismissing the felony charge.

Chief Magistrate Ben Shepler sentenced White to one year in the regional jail, which will be suspended after he serves 60 days. He then will begin a one-year probation period, during which he must maintain gainful employment and refrain from breaking any laws or using any alcohol or illegal drugs.
Also in Magistrate Court Tuesday, Shepler granted a continuance in the case of 56-year-old Pamela Thoman, of Valley Bend. Thoman was charged with 13 felony counts of forgery and 13 felony counts of uttering last week after she allegedly cashed 13 checks from a Davis Trust Company bank account belonging to her and her mother, Denny Ott, without authorization.
Thoman's preliminary hearing will be rescheduled.
