Carrie Elizabeth "Sissy" Jones, 78, a resident of Route 1, Elkins, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Mountain Hospice.
She was born March 15, 1935, at Lewisburg, the daughter of the late James and Carrie Elizabeth Knox. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, William "Bill" Jones; two sons, William "Mike" Jones, of Elkins, and James "Randy" Jones and wife, Betsy, of Elkins; three daughters, Carrie "Tamela" Jones, of Elkins, Karen E. Arbogast of Elkins and Amy Knavenshue and husband, Michael, of Elkins.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jamie White and husband, Tyler, Sara Arbogast, Jeremiah Knavenshue and wife, Hannah, Cody Knavenshue and Nicholas Jones; two great- grandchildren, Cole and Abigail White; and one brother, James Knox, all of Elkins.
Mrs. Jones was also preceded in death by one brother, William "Bunk" Knox.
She was a homemaker and for many years was an Avon representative. She loved reading and writing poetry. The family gains inspiration from the following poem titled "Mother", "If I follow the example that you've always set for me, If I heed the good advice that you've given lovingly. Then I'll be like the person who is reading this today, The dearest Mother in the world, loved more than words can say."
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jones Family at Rt.1, Box 314, Elkins, WV 26241.
