Mr. Harness Junior Nelson, 79, a resident of the Trinity Community near Belington, departed this life Friday March 15, 2013, in the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center at Belington. He had been in declining health for quite some time.
He was born Sept. 16, 1933, at Harman, a son of the late Adam Harness and Elizabeth (Pennington) Nelson.
On Sept. 5, 1978, he was united in marriage to the former Pearl Louise Kelley, who resides at their home in the Trinity Community.
He is survived by one son, Matthew Junior Nelson and wife, Sami, of Romney; two step-daughters, Dawn Taylor and husband, Robert, of Burlington, and Johanna and companion, Dennis Bennett, of Belington.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one special granddaughter that he raised, Hope Huffman; special friends Patty Rutherford, Glen and Benita Rutherford.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Nelson attended the school at Harman, and lastly was self-employed with odds and end jobs in this local area. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved ramp digging in the spring time. He was a protestant by faith.
Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 7 to 9 p.m. today. At the request of the deceased, his remains will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
