The Modern Homettes CEOS hosted its monthly meeting Feb. 7 at the home of Stanley and Lucy Mullins, and Eleanor Harris served as the co-hostess.
The meeting was called to order by Mullins. The pledge was led by Debbie Quick, and the meditations were given by Vice President Sheila Thomason. The minutes were read by Secretary Donna Bennett. Mullins gave the treasurer's report.
A new County Council and Advisory Board met in January. The new officers for 2013 are Lucy Mullins, president; Cathy Tallman, vice president; Donna Bennett, secretary; and Mavis Shiflett, treasurer. The Strawberry Festival Committee met on Jan. 11 at the West Virginia University Extension Office.

The Spring Achievement Dinner will take place April 8 at the Way of Holiness Fellowship Hall. Registration is at 5 p.m., and the dinner and program will start at 6 p.m. The theme this year is "CEOS Angels Among Us."
A Learn and Return was held Feb. 11 at Chapel Hill. CEOS of the Year forms were due March 1.
The lesson for the evening was given by Bennett, and it was called "Would You Like to be Happier?" We know that people who report being happy with their lives live longer, have fewer heart attacks, sleep better, report less depression and have more friends and a supportive family. The key to happiness is training yourself to focus on the present moment.
The next meeting was scheduled for 7 p.m. March 7 at the home of Stanley and Lucy Mullins. Donna Bennett served as co-hostess.
