Tractor-trailer overturns near Mt. Storm

March 28, 2013
The Inter-Mountain
The driver of a tractor-trailer loaded with 43,000 pounds of paper products crashed Monday afternoon in a difficult turn on Route 50 west near Mt. Storm, according to a news release received Wednesday from the Grant County Sheriff’s Department. The truck’s brakes locked up, causing it to slide through guard rails and flip over an embankment. Emergency personnel from Mt. Storm and Bayard responded to the accident and helped extricate the driver before he was taken to Garrett Memorial Hospital. Police said he was kept overnight for observation and was released the next evening. The accident is being investigated by Sr. Deputy Steve Wratchford of the Grant County Sheriff’s Department, who reported speed was a factor. The truck, shown here, was headed to Texas and belongs to a transport service in Maryland. (Submitted photo)
