Jerry L. Hise, 74, a resident of Elkins, passed away Tuesday evening March 26, 2013, in Hospice Care Inpatient Unit.
He was born Nov. 26, 1938, at Mill Creek, a son of the late James W. and Wilda Hamner Hise.
He was married to Louella Fox Hise, who preceded him in death Nov. 15, 2010.
He is survived by three sons, Curtis Lynn Hise and wife, Mary, of Colonial Heights, Va., James Dennis Hise of Elkins and Bryan Keith Hise and wife, Michele, of Newnan, Ga.; one brother, Joseph; two sisters, Delores and Rella Sue, all of Maryland; one brother-in-law, Kenny Fox of Mabie; and one sister-in-law, Sandy Johnson of Elkins. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Brittani Jessup, Lyndsy Hise, Brenden Hise, Chelsa and Josalynn Hise; four great-grandchildren, Zoe, Brent, Michael and Kailey; two stepgrandchildren, Justin and Erica; one stepgreat-granddaughter, Elena; and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were five brothers, Gary, Bill, John, Kenny and Jimmy; and one sister, Eloise Taylor.
Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from the Kroger Corp. where he had worked as a meat cutter. He was a loving caregiver and husband to his wife, a loving father and grandfather, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, martial arts and woodworking. He was a member of Elkins Church of God, National Rifle Association, Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars and H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion.
Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jamie Estep and the Rev. Eli Hostetler officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
