Gayle Marie Watring Strawderman, 85, a resident of St. George, departed this life early Saturday morning March 30, 2013, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital at Oakland, Md.

She was born Sunday Oct. 9, 1927, at Job, a daughter of the late Artenis Woodford Watring and Mary Jane Cunningham.

On June 8, 1955, at Pennsylvania, she was married to Morris Gay Strawderman, who preceded her in death Oct. 26, 2001.

Surviving are one son, Steve Strawderman of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Gabriella "Gabby" Mary Knotts and husband, Norman, and Renee Deniece Shaffer and husband, Steve, all of Horseshoe Run; one brother, Ralph Watring and wife, Joann, of Aurora; two sisters, Sarah "Kathryn" Knotts of Shaffertown, Betty "Jane" Lipscomb of Morgantown; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are two brothers, Jimmy Brooks Watring and Paul Woodford Watring; and three sisters, Meredith "Hope" Cramer, Ruby Louise Summerville and Ruth Ann Watring Hauser.

She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1945. She was former waitress for Hinebaugh's Restaurant and various restaurants in Warren, Ohio. She worked at Barb's Drug Store at the soda fountain and she was a former insurance agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. She was a member of the Leadmine United Methodist Church. She loved to dance and sing.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons from 5 to 8 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home parlor on Tuesday April 2, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Robert Leard will officiate and interment will follow at the Watring Cemetery at Shafertown.
