School cooks earn statewide awards

Randolph County School cooks capture multiple awards during the West Virginia State Nutrition Association Conference. Winner of best in show for the state bakeoff is Judy Rhodes of Elkins Middle School; and winners of the contest to formulate a recipe with 51 percent whole grain are Rhodes and Mona Sommerville, of Elkins Middle School, for their whole-wheat pepperoni rolls. Rella Mills, cook at George Ward Elementary School, was awarded West Virginia Cook of the Year, and Lorrayne Corley, child nutrition director, received the award for West Virginia Director of the Year.
