West Virginia Wesleyan College's Center for Community Engagement & Leadership Development and Health & Wellness Issue Team of WE LEAD hosted the second Jump Rope for Heart event March 21. The college was the first West Virginia institution of higher education to host this event for the American Heart Association in 2012, and the college remains the only participating institution to date.
The event raised $750.34 for the American Heart Association, making its total two-year donation $1,469.74. Teams raised money before the event, and gathered to enjoy refreshments, music and jumping rope to celebrate the money raised for the American Heart Association.
The event had 143 participating individuals, a jump from the 75 from last year. More than $500 worth of merchandise and gift cards and certificates were donated by local businesses for the event.
Leaders of the WE LEAD Health & Wellness Team and members of the Center for Community Engagement & Leadership Development present a check to Sarah Hambley, a representative from the American Heart Association.
