Tickets are still available for the May performance of last season's "American Idol" winner.

Phillip Phillips will take the stage at 7 p.m. May 14 at Harper-McNeely Auditorium on the campus of Davis & Elkins College. The event is a benefit for the Elkins-Randolph County YMCA. The special guest for the event is Gin Wigmore.

YMCA officials plan to use the proceeds from the show to improve the YMCA's sprinkler system and fire alarms and for swimming pool renovations.

Sponsors for the Phillip Phillips concert gather Tuesday with Elkins-Randolph County YMCA Executive Director Sid Gillispie. Pictured are Jim Jackson of Elkins Fordland, Gillispie, Crystal Warner Gibson of Elkins Distributing and Jay Wallace of Allegheny Insurance, displaying a check for $18,000 representing the sponsorship for the concert.

A trio of companies have provided $18,000 in sponsorship for the concert.

"It's exciting to have a concert of this quality coming to Elkins," said sponsor Jim Jackson of Elkins Fordland. "This show is selling out every stop and has sold over 800 tickets here. With only two weeks to go, there are 300 tickets left. So don't miss out, get your tickets today before they're 'Gone, Gone, Gone.' You can be part of a great event and a great cause in supporting our YMCA."

Jackson said he is excited about the community coming together on this project.

Fact Box

Are you a Phillip Phillips fan? Write us and tell us why you're the American Idol winner's biggest fan in the area, and you could win 4 free tickets to his Elkins concert.

The deadline for submissions is May 8. Submissions may be mailed to The Inter-Mountain, P.O. Box 1339, Elkins, WV, 26241, or may be dropped off at The Inter-Mountain office at 520 Railroad Ave.

"This is an example of what can be accomplished when people work together," Jackson said. "There has been tremendous community synergy in this project. We wanted to do something big - something fun - a show the community would enjoy and would be a successful fundraiser for the YMCA. After much consideration, we thought we couldn't miss with an American Idol winner, with one of the top songs 'Home,' which is still receiving steady play after nearly a year, and a new hit 'Gone, Gone, Gone.'"

"I really want to thank the other sponsors who were quick to show their support for the Y and its importance in the community," Jackson said. "Jay Wallace, of Allegheny Insurance, and Crystal Gibson, of Elkins Distributing, who participated with and arranged the Yuengling Brewery sponsorship, helped with the financial support to get this started. Scott Goddard, of Davis & Elkins College, put many hours and emails into the booking arrangements. WDTV and FoxWVFX, West Virginia Radio and The Inter-Mountain provided tremendous support in greeting the word out."

YMCA Executive Director Sid Gillispie said sales are going well.

"We are very excited about the concert," Gillispie said. "Tickets are still available at the Elkins YMCA, Elkins Fordland, Davis & Elkins College and online at musictoday.com."

Phillips recently released his single "Home," which has garnered the attention of many fans. More than 278,000 downloads have been sold, according to Phillips' website. The site said "Home" marked the highest debut ever on the Billboard Digital songs chart, and a press release said the single has reached quadruple platinum status. The song was used as the soundtrack for the 2012 U.S. Olympics Women's Gymnastics team and as the unofficial theme for Hurricane Sandy relief, according to the release.
