The Planetarium at West Virginia Wesleyan College has released show dates for the May and June seasons.
Saturday - "The Flight of Apollo 7." This 1968 documentary chronicles the first flight of humans aboard the then-new Apollo spacecraft, which was designed to take humans to the Moon.
May 18 - "The Magic School Bus: Out of This World." After Dorothy Ann sees an asteroid on a crash course toward their school, the class blasts into space to divert the asteroid and save the day.
June 1 - "IBEX: Search for the Edge of the Solar System." This video follows the creation of NASA's IBEX spacecraft which is collecting high-speed atoms to create a map of our Solar System's boundary.
June 15 - "Bill Nye: The Sun." In this episode, Bill Nye sheds light on solar flares, eclipses, sunspots, fusion, and solar energy, and visits an enormous solar power farm.
Shows begin at 8 p.m. on the second floor of Christopher Hall. No reservations are required, and tickets can be purchased at the door. Ticket prices are $3 for adults, $2 for students and seniors, and free to those under 18 years of age. Each planetarium showing includes a tour of the evening sky with free sky charts available, and there will be telescope observation following the shows if weather permits.
