Christine R. Cox will present the keynote address at West Virginia Wesleyan College's Commencement Ceremony, which is set to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Rockefeller Gymnasium.
While a student at Wesleyan, Cox was a member of the tour choir, math honorary, Haught Literary Society and Honorary Business Society, and she was very active in many other co-curricular activities. Cox graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics before going on to the University of Pennsylvania and graduating with a master's degree in government administration.
She has more than 30 years of public and private sector management experience, including eight years of management in New Jersey city and township government, 15 years of senior and executive management in state government, followed by three years in regional transportation.
She also served as a board member of New Jersey Council of Camp Fire USA for 16 years, holding both the secretary and president positions.
Cox has held specific leadership roles such as executive director for the Interstate 95 Corridor Coalition, assistant commissioner for finance and administration for the New Jersey Department of Transportation and assistant director for the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicle Services. She was named "Public Administrator of the Year" in 1990 by the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration.
She has served on the Board of Trustees at WVWC from 1998-2013 and served as chair of the President's Search Committee in 2005-2006. She also held the positions of board secretary, chair of the Student Development Council and chair of the Governance Task Force.
Cox currently is serving as chair of the Church Council of the Princeton United Methodist Church and owns her own independent management consulting firm.
