Pendleton County’s Brittany Huffman, right, prepares to release a pitch against Elkins during a contest Tuesday at Elkins Middle School. The game was halted in the fourth inning due to rain. Both teams will play regional contests on Thursday as the Tigers will host Buckhannon-Upshur and the Wildcats will entertain Moorefield.

In girls softball action, Elkins and Pendleton County played four innings before rain showers ended their game at Elkins Middle School.

Both teams will play in regional semifinal games on Thursday, and Tuesday's game was held because each squad still had openings on their slate because of postponements during the regular season.

The Tigers will host rival Buckhannon-Upshur at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Elkins Middle School. Elkins lost both regular-season meetings against the Bucs.

The Wildcats, meanwhile, will entertain Potomac Valley Conference rival Moorefield in their regional.

Moorefield won both games against Pendleton County during the regular season. The Yellow Jackets have been idle since defeating East Hardy to win the sectional title last week.
