Insanity classes offered in Elkins

May 9, 2013
By Beth Christian Broschart - Staff Writer , The Inter-Mountain

A new class is being offered for people who like a challenge.

Kristyn Mergenthaler, Beachbody Coach and owner of Kristyn Mergenthaler Wellness, offers Insanity classes at 11 a.m. Saturdays, and 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at AXIS Training Center on the Elkins Five-lane.

Mergenthaler is a certified Insanity trainer, and said she is thrilled to get the classes going.

"Summertime is just around the corner," Mergenthaler said. "I can guarantee results if people can commit to the classes and show up consistently. Insanity is not sexist, meaning it isn't easier for men than it is for women."

Mergenthaler said the class is for anyone, but it is challenging.

"If people want the results like they would get from a personal trainer without paying the high cost for one, then they definitely don't want to miss these classes," Mergenthaler said. "I will critique form, so people get the maximum results from the workout. Tuesdays and Saturdays, the workout is 30 minutes. It may seem short, but don't worry, that's plenty. All classes are highly beneficial."

Insanity is a cardio-based total-body conditioning program based on max interval training. This allows a person to beat the stress adaptation response, which normally happens when the body becomes used to exercising at one level of exertion. Insanity pushes the participants to new training heights, burning more calories. Insanity is anaerobic exercise, working at high intensity levels for brief periods of time.

Additional information about the classes is available by contacting Mergenthaler at 304-617-3486.
