The annual Upshur County Elementary Student Art Show is currently on display at the Main Street Art Gallery in Buckhannon.
The show features work from more than 60 students from all elementary schools within the county. Examples of artwork include prints, paintings, weaves, masks and 3-D sculptures. The elementary art teachers responsible for bringing out the enormous creative talents of the young children are Joe Merrifield (Union, Hodgesville and Tennerton elementary schools), Heidi Thompson (Rock Cave, French Creek and Washington District elementary schools) and Virginia Hicks (Buckhannon Academy Elementary School).
Families and friends may visit the gallery to view the artwork during regular gallery hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, throughout month of May. The show will be judged by the Board of Directors for the Main Street Gallery. Ribbons will be issued to first, second and third place and an honorable mention, at each grade level, kindergarten through five.
