Bucs, Tigers look to complete game

Moorefield to host Hawks with state tourney berth on the line

Buckhannon-Upshur and Elkins look to complete their Class AAA, Region II semifinal contest today, while a pair of area teams battle for state tourney berths.

The Tigers and Bucs will resume play at 4:30 p.m. at Elkins Middle School. B-U is holding a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning of the contest, which has been postponed or delayed on four different occasions the past week.

The victor will host Jefferson at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the regional title game.

Elkins and Michaela Lewis-Lambert face Buckhannon-Upshur today in regional semifinal action at Elkins Middle School. The game will resume in the fourth inning with the Bucs holding a 4-0 lead.

Moorefield, meanwhile, will host South Harrison at 6 p.m. in a Class A regional finale.

The Yellow Jackets defeated Pendleton County 24-0 to advance. Moorefield is led by all-stater Beth Cook, who is batting .625 with 10 home runs and 44 RBIs.

Danica Rogers and Taylor Zuber anchor the pitching staff.

Petersburg also is in search of a state berth when it travels to Robert C. Byrd at 6 p.m. The Vikings are 26-6 on the season.
