A Buckhannon man was charged with domestic assault Saturday after police allege he threatened to shoot his girlfriend during a verbal altercation.
Michael Linn Waggy, 39, of 1 Kepner St., had his bond set at $5,000 on the misdemeanor charge, according to records in Upshur County Magistrate Court. As part of the bond condition, he is not to possess a weapon nor ammunition.
According to the complaint filed in Magistrate Court, Buckhannon police officers arrived at the Kepner Street residence to hear a loud, verbal altercation in progress. The complaint stated that the alleged victim said Waggy had threatened to shoot her.
Officers searched Waggy and reportedly discovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun concealed in his pants pocket. The alleged victim told police she feared for her and her children's safety, the complaint stated.
