Gregory Dean Chewning, 57, a former resident of Wintersville, Ohio, and more recently a resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life Friday, May 31, 2013, near his home.
He was born Wednesday, May 2, 1956, in Canton, Ohio, a son of Sydney Curtis Chewning and Edith Wamsley, who survive in Canton.
Gregory is survived by his son, Geoffrey Chewning of Louisville, Ohio; his daughter, Heather DiAngelis and husband, Tony, of Ashburn, Va.; two brothers, Curtis Linn Chewning of Canton, Ohio, and Dwight D. Chewning and wife, Jean, of Medina, Ohio; and one niece, Alena Chewning.
Gregory was a graduate of Oakwood High School with the class of 1974. He had taken several college courses at the University of Akron, and he recently retired from Sears where he had worked as an appliance salesman. He enjoyed reading, working with his hands and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Heritage Foundation.
Visitation will be conducted at the Randolph Funeral Home Thursday, June 6, from noon until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Carroll McCauley will officiate, and interment will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery on the Adolph Road.
