Former Philippi resident to be June Artist at library

June 12, 2013
The Inter-Mountain

Jennifer Miller Chester will be featured during Philippi Public Library's next Meet Your Local Artist event from 11 a.m. to noon June 15.

She is the daughter of Tom and Karen Miller, former residents of Philippi and teachers at Alderson-Broaddus College and Philip Barbour High School.

Jen, as she is known to friends and family, creates hand-crafted doll clothes and accessories to fit the very popular 18-inch dolls. The motto for her one-of-a-kind creations is, "You don't dress like everyone else, so why should your doll?"

Chester will demonstrate and lead attendees through the process of making doll accessories. Copies of her Pixie Dust Newsletter will be available for all participants to view the extent of her creations and to provide special order directions for anyone interested in having her create an original design just for you.

Recent Meet Your Local Artist appearances have appealed mostly to adults. The library staff and trustees hope that June's appearance of Chester and her Pixie Dust creations will draw an audience of young and old alike.

Chester hopes that former schoolmates will stop in to say hello and see what she is up to now. Some may remember that one of her first creations was a "sew on the lines" picture that she entered in the Barbour County Fair, winning first place.
