Highland Adventist School seniors participated in commencement exercises recently. Ian Jones, a student at H.A.S. throughout his high school years, was joined by Hong Kong exchange students Jasmine Sin and Mei Yip in celebrating the completion of their high school education.

Don Jacko, H.A.S. science teacher, gave the commencement address and H.A.S. alumnus Joel Grey provided special music.

Jones, who has been accepted into the Davis & Elkins College 2013 freshman class, was awarded a $44,000 D&E Highland Scholarship during the ceremony.

Tom Blanzy, H.A.S. board chairman, presented Jones his diploma and certificates to the exchange students. The entire class will be enrolled in various colleges in the fall.

"We are so very proud of our graduates and their academic achievements this year," said Cheryl Jacko, H.A.S. principal. "It is encouraging to know that 100 percent of this class is pursuing further education."
