The Upshur County Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce invite the public to a grand opening/open house, scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. June 20.
In honor of West Virginia's 150th birthday and in celebration of the local community, the open house will offer light refreshments, music, raffles and more.
The new space, called the Chamber & Visitor Center, is located at 14 E. Main St. The building dates back to 1892 and has a deep history in Buckhannon's landscape. The repurposed space features the original floors from the former GC Murphy Five & Dime store and is a true example of how historic buildings can be transformed into functional, attractive spaces.
The Chamber & Visitor Center's new location is much more visible to the public and creates an atmosphere for staff members to meet with visitors, provide resources to the community and be a central feature in Downtown Buckhannon's Historic District.
Guests are welcome to attend the open house or stop by for an Upshur County travel guide; city, county and state maps; brochures; and statewide attraction information.
The Chamber & Visitors Center is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. More information is available by calling the Chamber & Visitor Center at 304-472-1722 or 304-473-1400 or emailing info@BUChamber.com or info@VisitBuckhannon.org.
