The Randolph County Community Arts Center will present the workshop "Introduction to Figurative & Character Sculpting" with instructor Andrew Thorne.
This three-day intensive is open to beginners as well as experienced sculptors. Focusing on producing a character bust, each student will be provided with clay and tools. Thorne will guide participants in the steps necessary to refine and complete their work, although practiced artists are encouraged to bring their favorite tools.
"I look forward to sharing my work and ideas about art with others and teaching them to create what is hidden within their own imagination," Thorne said.
The session will run from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, and there is a registration fee.
Thorne received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from West Virginia University's College of Creative Arts. Focusing on sculpture, he has attended workshops in China and studied in Italy. His work is currently displayed at Tamarack as well as the Randolph County Community Arts Center. It can also be viewed at www.thornesculpture.com.
