Clara L. Scott, 88, a resident of Huttonsville, passed away Wednesday evening, June 19, 2013, in Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center.
She was born Jan. 12, 1925, at Hemlock, a daughter of the late Sterl and Mary Alice Lanham Tenney.
On Dec. 8, 1943, at Buckhannon, she was married to Woodrow W. "Woody" Scott, who preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 2008. The Scotts had celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Surviving are three sons, Billy Scott and wife, Freda, of Mill Creek, Gary Scott and wife, Terry, of Moundsville and Lancil Scott and wife, Donna, of Huttonsville; and two daughters, Hazel Petry and husband, Howard, of Huttonsville and Sada Cutright and husband, Gary, of Mill Creek. Fifteen grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Carrie Samples and her late husband, Jay, and Martha Cochran and husband, Waldo, all of Buckhannon, also survive.
Also preceding her in death were two infant sons; and two sisters, Mary Tenney and Anna Mae Currence.
Mrs. Scott was a devoted Christian, a loving wife for 64 years and mother and Prayer Warrior. She believed in divine healing and was eager to pray for miracles. She loved to worship the Lord with family and friends, and she always had a song to sing and enjoyed playing the piano and guitar. She always had a smile, a laugh and a big hug to share. She was a member of the Brady Gate Church.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 23, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. William "Wink" Lanham officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery near Hemlock.
