The 77th Mountain State Forest Festival has announced the appointment of royal jesters Morgan Lynn McCollam, Ani Ruth Reger and Alyssa Kristen Thompson to the court of Maid Silvia LXXVII. The three Randolph County students, having earned the distinction through an audition process, will have the honor of providing entertainment in the form of dance and tumbling throughout the festivities from Sept. 28 to Oct. 6.
McCollam, 14, will enter ninth grade this fall at Elkins High School. She is the daughter of Jim McCollam of Elkins and Joan Miller of Elkins. She is the granddaughter of John and Maxine McCollam of Elkins and John and Pam Miller of Elkins. She has two sisters, Brooke and Linsey McCollam, and one brother, Ryan Miller. Brooke served as a royal jester in the 2009 Mountain State Forest Festival. McCollam was a cheerleader at Elkins Middle School and enjoys singing, gymnastics and tumbling.
Reger, 12, will enter seventh grade this fall at Elkins Middle School. She is the daughter of Bradley and Melissa Reger. She is the granddaughter of Robert and Marian Reger of Belington and Jim and Patty McCloud of Elkins. She has one sister, Lexi. Reger was a crownbearer in the 2007 Mountain State Forest Festival. She is an honor roll student at EMS, where she is active in the band and student council. She is a member of National Young Leaders and attends Tumble Time Gymnastics. In 2010, she was named West Virginia State Gymnastics Champion.
Royal Jesters Ani Ruth Reger, Alyssa Kristen Thompson and Morgan Lynn McCollam will entertain at the 77th Mountain State Forest Festival.
Thompson, 13, will enter ninth grade this fall at Elkins High School. She is the daughter of Todd and Kelly Thompson of Elkins. She is the granddaughter of David and Nancy Thompson of Elkins and Robert and Margaret Teter of Mill Creek. She is the great-granddaughter of Alma Shaffer of Valley Head. She has one sister, Emily, who served as Maid of Honor in the 2012 Mountain State Forest Festival. While Alyssa was an honor roll student at EMS, she served as secretary of Hi-Y and was a member of the softball team, choir and band. She is a gymnastics and dance student at Dance by Farrah and plays on the Elkins Explosion softball team. She served as crownbearer in the 2005 Mountain State Forest Festival.
