Mr. Donnie Lee Glendenning, 74, a resident of 208 Oak Ave., Junior, departed this life Friday morning July 5, 2013, in the emergency department of Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins. He had been in declining health but death was unexpected.
He was born Sept. 28, 1938, at Junior, a son of the late Honest Doyle and Margaret Ellen Moore Glendenning. He had never married.
Mr. Glendenning is survived by three nephews, Steven Lee Glendenning Sr., Elkins, Mark Smearman, Gap Mills and Rick Smearman, Pine Grove; three great-nephews, Steven Lee Glendenning Jr., Junior, whom he made his home, Jason Smearman, Ohio, and Josh Smearman Tennessee; two great- nieces, Katie Smearman, Salem, and Misty Lee Gregg, Huntington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, infant Frankie Lee Glendenning and Doyle Murl Glendenning; one sister, Thelma Smearman; two nephews, Timothy Glendenning and Perry Smearman.
Mr. Glendenning attended the schools of Barbour County and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was retired from the West Virginia Dept. of Highways, and following retirement, was employed for Junior Tire. Donnie enjoyed mechanic work and spending time with his family. He was a protestant by faith.
Friends will be received from Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 to 9 p.m. today and again on Tuesday from 8 to11 a.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillyard Cemetery near Junior, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 96 of Belington.
