Adaland Mansion's second guest chef of the Celebrate Local! dinner series will be searching the food stalls of local farmers markets, including the Barbour County Community Garden Market and extending to the WVU Aquaculture program, to gather just the right produce and meats to serve at the July 21 dinner at Adaland Mansion.
Chef Marion Ohlinger, owner and executive chef of Morgantown's Richwood Grill, will be working his magic in Adaland's kitchen for 60 lucky diners. Chef Marion's custom-designed menu features six courses of cold foods that are guaranteed to cool the sweltering July heat.
Diners will be treated to such delicacies as asparagus and potato vichy, grilled and chilled chili-brined watermelon, house-cured trout roe caviar, and house-made lamb pastrami tossed with fresh greens and pasta. Sorbet to clear the palate and mixed berry shortcake with a special ice cream will complete the menu.
The chef suggests a dry white wine such as semillion, albarino or a vinho verde or a beer pairing of a pilsner, lager or a lighter IPA for those who want to carry in their beverages.
The Sunday afternoon dinner will offer 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. seatings. Reservations may be made by calling 304-457-2415 or 304-457-1587. Tickets for all the dinners in the Celebrate Local! series are $25.
