Aging seminar open to public

July 10, 2013
The Inter-Mountain

Central West Virginia Aging Services, a one-stop social services agency, is pleased to announce that an exciting one-day training seminar presentation will take place at Stonewall Resort near Weston on Thursday, July 25. Continuing education credit hours will be provided for Registered Nurses, Licensed Social Workers and Licensed Practical Nurses.

Evelyn Post, the agency's executive director, says the morning and afternoon seminars will now provide a total of seven hours credit for each professional. The event is open to the public for attendance.

The morning session will be presented by Kathy Stalnaker, Mandy Weirich and Gail Peacock and will focus on "Navigating the APS Maze, A Centralized Focus on Mandated Reporting and Linkage Standards." Attendees will receive valuable information related to addressing concerns related to abuse, neglect, exploitation, homelessness guardianship and surrogacy issues. This promises to be a unique learning opportunity.

The afternoon session promises to be an engaging topic targeting responsibilities related to "Assuring Compliance with the New Power Of Attorney Laws." The W.Va. Senior Legal Aid Attorney and executive director, Cathy McConnell, will present an overview of the June 2012 law changes and will then provide guidance with interactive audience case studies. This workshop will focus on details that will benefit attendees.

All classes are open for public attendance.

Advance registration and payment is required for attendance. Please contact Jonnie George at jgeorge@frontier.com or call 304-472-0395 for a conference brochure. Conference registration closes on Monday, July 22.
