Retha Evelyn Shiflett, 66, a resident of Akron, Ohio, and prior to that, Mill Creek, passed from this life Thursday, July 11, 2013. She was surrounded by family members as she returned to her mother's loving embrace in Heaven.
She was born Wednesday, Jan. 11, 1947, in Randolph County, a daughter of the late Edgar Shiflett and Mary Taylor Shiflett.
Retha lived in Mill Creek until 1991. After her mother passed, she moved to Akron, Ohio. Her sister Betty Watkins and husband, John, provided their home and continual loving care with open arms for the remainder of her days.
Left to cherish Retha's memory are two sisters, Judy Currence of Mill Creek and Lea Timura of Akron, Ohio; one brother, Roger Shiflett and wife, Patricia, of Mill Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was one brother, Edgar Shiflett Jr.
Retha attended United Disabilities Services Workshop for many years. She spent hours browsing her catalogues and enjoyed singing "Happy Birthday" and Christmas carols.
She also managed to leave a smile on the face of anyone who was blessed enough to have met her.
Visitation will be conducted at the Randolph Funeral Home Monday, July 15, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Interment will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery in Adolph.
