Robert David Lawrence departed this life July 11, 2013, at his Springfield, Va. home.

Robert was born Nov. 8, 1931, in Hambleton, to George and Greta Lawrence.

On Dec.4, 1954, he married Marjorie Cooper Lawrence, who survives in Springfield, Va.

Robert is also survived by his two children, Debi Wilson of Arlington, Va., and Kevin (Debbie) Lawrence of Harman. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Kristy Lawrence of West Palm Beach, Travis Lawrence of Harman, Lauren and Blake Wilson of Arlington; also one brother, Carl Lawrence of Springfield; sister, Betty (Dice) Bennett of Hambleton; and sister-in-law, Ann Lawrence of Hambleton survive.

Preceding him in death was his brother, Charles Lawrence.

Robert spent his childhood and graduated high school in Tucker County. He joined the Army in 1952. After returning home from the service, he moved to the Washington, D.C., area where he studied at the Emerson Institute and went to work for the Department of Navy as an engineer at Carderock Division where he retired in 1993.

Robert enjoyed spending time with his friends and family as well as on the farm in Harman. He also enjoyed traveling the world especially taking cruises with his wife. Robert will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends at Harman Church of the Brethren Sunday, July 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will also be at Harman Church of the Brethren Monday at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest in the family farm cemetery.
