NUTTER?FORT?- Harrison County captured the Babe Ruth 13-year-old state title by defeating Elkins twice over the weekend at Frank Loria Field.
Harrison County secured the title in the best-of-three series with a 13-6 win on Sunday.
Elkins held a 4-3 lead before Harrison County took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth and added eight more runs over the sixth and seventh innings.
Harrison County cruised to a 14-3 win on Saturday as Brine Takahashi knocked in three runs.
David Akers went three innings, allowing one run on hit to earn the win. He struck out four and walked four.
Luke Petrice took the loss, surrendering five runs on three hits in one inning of action.
Petrice went 2 for 3 at the plate with a pair of RBIs, while Ean Winans scored two runs.
Harrison County will play in the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament, which begins July 25 in Robinson, Ill.
