Commodore Perry Stalnaker Jr., 85, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. Born in Coalton, on October 12, 1927, he was the son of the late Commodore Perry and Agnes (Jaggie) Stalnaker Sr.
A resident of the Hiram area since 1975, Mr. Stalnaker had been the manager of Johnson Farm in Hiram for 25 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Presidency of the Founding Branch of the Hiram Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
On August 14, 1950, he married Lima Jean (Johnston) Stalnaker who survives at their residence. Also surviving are his children, Steven (Colleen) Stalnaker of Ind.; David (Maria) Stalnaker of Macomb, Mich.; Joseph (Mitzi) Stalnaker of Caty, Texas; Diana (Roger) Storm of Strongsville, Ohio; and Mary (Joe Brown) Stalnaker of Mantua. Also surviving are his sisters, Elizabeth (Sister Theresa Regina) of New York; Gertrude (Charles) Hudio of Parma; 22 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Robertson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 6149 Pioneer Trail, Hiram, Ohio, 44234 with Bishop Jeff Hatfield officiating.
Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the service time. Additional visitation will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 211 E. 200th St.-South, Springville, Utah, followed by a graveside funeral service at Springville Cemetery.
